As the President and CEO of The Ottawa Hospital Foundation, I would like to sincerely thank you for participating in the second annual Ride the Rideau, fuelled by Nordion. Because of you, we raised a record-breaking $1,829,544 for cancer research at The Ottawa Hospital. Ride the Rideau has become the single largest one-day cancer fundraiser in eastern Ontario – we couldn’t have done this without the support of riders, those that supported them, our volunteers and sponsors.
It was the perfect day – we had over 715 riders, 280 volunteers and we couldn’t have asked for better weather. Among our riders were 21 cancer survivors – you may have noticed them because of the flags on their bikes. We hope they inspired you as much as they inspire us to continue to make an impact in the fight against this deadly disease.
As you know the funds raised by this event will support clinical trials and the development of personalized therapies that are tailored for each patient. This will translate into more effective treatment and better outcomes for cancer patients in our community. You should be proud of your role in transforming the future of cancer care in our community.
