Summer has arrived, school is out, holidays are set to start and no one is complaining about the heat because this is what it is all about – sun, water, and lots of fun. I hope everyone enjoyed with family and friends a very Happy Canada Day and tomorrow a Happy Independence Day. April showers bring May flowers – well we had a little bit more than April showers this past month; on April 16th we had the Nor’Easter storm and then on April 18th, the sun was out and launching was in full swing.

April is now upon us, and although it would be so nice to jump straight into a warm Spring, Mother Nature is still insisting on holding back; the sun feels so welcoming and warm but there is still a chill in the air especially when the wind is blowing from the East and the ice in the river has not yet decided to leave us. So I shall leave you with this sparkling picture of summer taken by Sue Skibinski of her island last season.

Welcome everyone to the month of spring; mark your calendars as not only will we jump from Winter to Spring on March 15th, irrespective of what our little furry creatures predicted, but also we jump an hour forward the evening of March 10th/ March 11th – an hour longer for all our enjoyment.

One month closer to Spring already, but before we get too excited, winter is certainly paying us a visit now. Snow is lying on the ground and although the sky is blue and the sun shining brightly, the temperature is very definitely in the minuses which enabled Peter to capture the mood of the constantly changing river.
